This course provides a look at the concept of assessment in ACT.  Through the use of text posts, videos and assessment measures, participants will learn about assessing acceptance and defusion, contact with the present moment, self as context, values and actions.  For each of these areas, participants will also learn how to identify in-session cues that the client may be displaying.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course participants will be able to:

  • Identify in-session cues for avoidance, fusion, lack of contact with the present moment, fusion with self concepts, and problems with committed actions or values.
  • Describe and apply 13 assessment measures of ACT processes in your work with clients.

Instructor

Matthieu Villatte is a Research Scientist at the Evidence-Based Practice Institute. He was formerly Assistant Professor in clinical psychology at the University of Louisiana.  He obtained his Ph.D. in France, with an emphasis on clinical behavior analysis and relational frame theory, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Nevada, Reno under the mentorship of Steve Hayes . Matthieu is an ACBS recognized ACT trainer who has facilitated workshops focusing on clinical applications of RFT in North and South America, Australia, and Europe. He is the co-author of the first ACT manual published in French and is associate editor of the Journal of Contextual Behavior Science.  His new book, Mastering the Clinical Conversation: Language as Intervention, is co-authored by Jennifer Villatte and Steve Hayes and was released by Guilford Press.

Licensing and Continuing Education Requirements

The Evidence-Based Practice Institute (EBPI) is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer continuing education for psychologists. EBPI maintains responsibility for the program and its content. EBPI allocates 2 CE credits for this course following APA guidelines. After you successfully complete the course, fill out an evaluation form, and pass an exam, your CE certificate will be emailed to you.
